BAD BEHAVIOUR SOON TO BE REWARDED

Peter Paul Reubens’s astounding view of the largesse of agricultural life was painted 399 years ago to admonish prodigal sons— e.g. the chap on the right— with the sight of the deservedly rich rewards of earnest endeavour.

The parable tells us that his still grumpy-looking father will take him back, give him a bath, lend him a shirt, and kill the fatted calf (not shown) for dinner. And, don’t the fine beef in the painting suggest how wonderful that will be?

Perhaps your own grumpy father or undeserving son should be treated this way. If so, see our fabulous reduced price special offer of a big rump steak dinner for £20!
